Online Service Tax Registration

As the name indicates, Service tax is a tax levied by the Central Government on Services provided. Every person is mandatorily required to register with the Service Tax Department within 30 days, if the value of taxable service provided exceeds Rupees Nine lakh in a financial year.

Ordinarily, the person who renders the taxable service has the obligation to pay/deposit the tax collected in course of providing the service, to the Government before a specified date. However, in some situations, the receiver of the Services has the obligation to pay/deposit the tax collected.

If any person who renders any taxable service and is not required to get registered may also apply for voluntary Registration under Service Tax.

If any person required to get registered with the service tax authority, fails to obtain registration would attract penalty upto Rs.10,000/- or Rs. 200/- for every day during which such failure continues, whichever is higher.

Service Tax Registration
  1. Copy of the Pan Card of the company
  2. Two passport size photographs of proprietor/partners /directors/trustees etc.
  3. Self attested copy of Pan Card, Voters Identity Card/Aadhar Card Card/Passport/Driving license as a proof of identity of proprietor/partners /directors/trustees etc.
  4. Self attested copy of Bank Statement/Electricity Bill/Mobile Bill/Telephone Bill,Voters Identity Card/Aadhar Card Card/Passport/Driving license as a proof of address of proprietor/partners /directors/trustees etc.
  5. Premises Address Proof
    • If Rented: Rent Agreement and utility bill likely electricity bill, telephone bill, etc.& No Objection Certificate from owner.
    • If Owned: Ownership proof. Receipt of Municipality tax paid.
  6. Detail of Bank accounts along with a Cancelled cheque.
  7. Memorandum/Articles of Association/List of Directors, (In case of company).
  8. Detail of registration numbers under Companies Act, Sales Tax Act, Importer and Exporter code etc., if any.
  9. Details of authorized signatories.
  10. E-Mail id and Mobile number of proprietor/partners /directors/trustees etc.
  11. List of Services provided or proposed to be provided.

1. Working day from the date of
receiving the Information
